Citronic MPX10 midi controller and usb player, VDJ, Traktor - video 2 Video

Here is the blurb from Citronic:

The cutting edge Citronic MP-X10 is a media/MIDI MP3 player and mixer specifically designed to become the ultimate all-in-one mobile DJ unit. It can be used in 3 ways eliminating the need to choose between either a PC software and MIDI controller, or the traditional two media players and a mixer set-up. Firstly, the unit can be used as a stand-alone player. Simply plug in a USB flash or hard drive and access the music on either side of the player by the MP3 track and folder search buttons, viewing the ID3 tags on the large VDF display. You can then mix and add effects between each player using the built-in 2 channel mixer. Secondly, the unit can be switched into MIDI mode, which is compatible with many popular DJ software packages. This feature allows you to control your music and the sound set-up with the built-in sound card driver. Finally, the versatile MP-X10 can be used as MIDI controller on one half and stand-alone player and mixer on the other. Simply access a song on your PC and control it using the DJ software, then cue up your next track on the USB storage device and mix across. This unit is easy to transport, quick to set-up and simple to use, making it ideal for mobile DJs.

I am getting one of ...
I am getting one of these for a backup and second small system. I'll be primarily using it as a midi controller, but I am considering formatting a 500 GB backup drive into Fat32, like you did with your 320 GB. Are there any huge drawbacks to using FAT32 on a large drive like that? I am aware of the 999 files, 999? folders limitation. Any other issues? Do you loose a lot of space due to the less efficient FAT32 system, of not all that noticeable? Thanks for the great review :)

@dawsthahorse yes ...
@dawsthahorse yes this a good unit for someone starting out, the built in usb playing facility is a great back-up function that you cant find on? many other units. See if you can get down to your local retailer and have a try first before you buy as there are a whole host of midi controllers available depending on your budget!

"Max. number? of ...
"Max. number? of Folders 999 (max.255 files per folder)" so 254745 songs :)

Thaks for you ...
Thaks for you response Alan,Its much appreciated. I think this will be a perfect back up unit, Shame? the screen isn't a bit larger though!

Hi, jog wheels ...
Hi, jog wheels are quite nice to use - slightly different feel but as good as the denons I would say once you get used to them. Yes you can cue and drop tracks easily. I had about 20 folders on my large drive, each with several sub folders in - I dont think any of my folders contain more than 999 files in each. There are? around 20,000 tracks on my hard drive. The display is not great for searching large music collections but if your organised its OK. It would be fine for a back-up player.

Hi Alan, I am ...
Hi Alan, I am looking at one of these units as a back up device. How responsive are the jog wheels? Would you say they are similar to the denon dns1200/dnhd2500 jogwheels? Can you cue & drop tracks like vinyl? Citronic states in the blurb that you can only have a maximum of 999 files on any one external usb drive-How many have you got on the drive you had? plugged in? Lastly,do you find that the display is too small for searching large music collections? Thanks in advance
